Embodied Truth Audition

Cooperative Performance

Embodied Truth: Finding Ways to Move Together - created in collaboration with Daniel Burkholder & Kimani Fowlin - is an ongoing project honoring the blessings and the challenges of being a parent by examining race and gender through the lens of parenting.

Looking for Parent/Collaborators who are interested in creating a performance work exploring how parenting is affected and informed by issues of race and gender within our current culture. Looking for dancers, theater artists, singers, and spoken word artists who are comfortable moving and collaborating to devise an evening length work to be premiered in May 2020.

Rehearsals will begin in early January and continue once a week through the performance dates.

Willingness to collaborate, under the direction of Daniel Burkholder and Kimani Fowlin, in developing movement and text through various creative practices and choreographic tools is a vital skill. Looking for 4 to 6 Parent/Collaborators willing to create community through our work together.

Please wear clothing which is comfortable to move in.

Please note: because we are looking to collaborate with parents who are performing artists, all rehearsals will be family friendly - children and caretakers are welcome at all rehearsals.

KALEIDOSCOPE

Cooperative Performance Milwaukee

devised and directed by Emily Elliott

This devised piece, told almost entirely through dance and movement, follows the story of two individuals who experience sexual assault and relationship abuse. Their stories progress at different rates, periodically syncing into echoed patterns of violence, verbal and physical. Inspired by seven true stories, KALEIDOSCOPE focuses not only on the event of the assault but patterns of abuse before and the complex healing process after.
